104 A Painting 2004

Early 2004. Yellow. Marked the sudden start of a personal crisis that would last for a number of years, due to my rapidly declining mental health, I struggled with everyday life. The only thing I was able to focus on during this trying time was drawing, and occasionally, a little painting. I made this painting with sawdust, glue and paint on a panel. The dire situation I was in would engulf me for some time to come. But, at that moment, I was not fully aware of that, yet. Looking back at this period, it seems I was still able to find expression, as you can see, the use of this color is intended as inspiring and hopeful. It was the only way I could express myself, I couldn’t find words at all. TEXT: VINCENT THOMAS
